Fr. Augustin Nistal Garcia, C.Ss. R (A Redemptorist priest) and Maria Teresa Rivera Carrillo with the group of Women catechists, by inspiration of the Holy Spirit and uniting their ideas, founded in Mexico on September 17, 1934, the congregation that carries the name of Missionaries of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The Holy See granted its approval as Institute of Pontifical right on December 8, 1977. The congregation was canonically erected on June 24, 1963. It enjoys the juridical personality in the Church, with all the rights and obligations of an Institute with pontifical rights, The acronym that signifies its name is M. P. S ( Misioneras del Perpetuo Socorro) meaning Missionaries of Perpetual Help. The congregation was founded with the mission to support the church through catechetical and pastoral work. Education and empowerment of women and children. Counseling the prisoners. Providing care and shelter to the orphans. Our Congregation has its branches in 9 countries. Mexico, China, Elsalvador, India, Phillipines, Argentina, Guatemala, Venezuela, U.S. A , !998 on June 24th the foundation in was established by 3 sisters1 from Mexico and 2 from the Phillipines. Today we have two branches in India one in Bangalore and the other in Jharkhand. There 10 India sisters 2 One sister is working in the Phillipines and the other one is working in China and 4 sisters in Bangalore and 4 sisters in Jharkhand. We have a formation house in Bangalore there young girls who wish to follow our way of life is trained by the sisters. And they are sent for higher studies so that they are well prepared to do the mission in the societies. We also run a play school Fr. Nistal pre-school. In Jharkhand 2 of our sisters are engaged in the school. Sr. Ranjita is working in St. Mark’s High School Banabira. Sr. Susila is working in R.C boys Middle School. Sr. Jesintha is involved in social work. Along with that she runs the village tuition where students are trained by her to teach to their own children in the villages (Peer group teaching.) we also run a Hostel (Mother of Perpetual Help Hostel Banabira.)
